In the sleepy town of Boston, Massachusetts, the summer of 1969 was a time of innocence and carefree abandon. But on a warm July night, everything changed when ten-year-old Shayla Lawson vanished without a trace.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, Shayla and her friends were playing hide-and-seek in the dense woods behind her house. But when the game ended, Shayla was gone. Her disappearance sent shockwaves through the community, and a massive search was launched. But despite the best efforts of police, volunteers, and the FBI, no trace of Shayla could be found.
In the years that followed, the mystery of Shayla's disappearance haunted the town of Boston. The community refused to give up hope, and the search for Shayla became a symbol of their resilience and determination. But as time went on, the case grew cold, and the hope of finding Shayla alive began to dwindle.
In 2019, more than 50 years after Shayla's disappearance, author Shayla Lawson published the book They Called Me Boston. The book is a gripping true-crime narrative that tells the story of Shayla's disappearance and the community that never gave up hope of finding her. With evocative detail and heart-wrenching authenticity, Lawson paints a vivid picture of a small town gripped by fear and uncertainty, and a family torn apart by grief.
They Called Me Boston is a powerful and moving tribute to Shayla Lawson and the community that never gave up hope of finding her. It is a story of loss, hope, and the enduring power of the human spirit.
