In Traplines, Kim Heacox brings readers on a journey to the Sawtooth Valley in central Idaho, where she grew up and learned to trap with her father. The daughter of a legendary trapper, Heacox spent her childhood exploring the rugged mountains and forests of the valley, learning about the animals and the land.

As she grew older, Heacox left the valley to pursue her education and career. But she never forgot her roots, and in her early thirties, she decided to return home and learn the trade of trapping from her father. Traplines is the story of her journey, both physical and emotional, as she reconnects with her family's legacy and the wild lands that have always been her home.

Written with lyrical prose and vivid descriptions, Traplines is a love letter to the Sawtooth Valley and a celebration of the enduring bond between a daughter and her father. It is a story that will resonate with anyone who has ever felt the pull of home, or who has ever dreamed of living a life close to the land.

Praise for Traplines

"Kim Heacox writes with such lyrical beauty and evocative detail that I felt like I was right there in the Sawtooth Valley with her, sharing her journey. Traplines is a powerful and moving memoir that will stay with me long after I finish reading it." - Annick Smith, author of the Damselfly and Other Stories

"Traplines is a beautifully written and deeply personal memoir that captures the essence of the Sawtooth Valley and the people who live there. Kim Heacox's writing is both lyrical and evocative, and her story is sure to resonate with anyone who loves the outdoors or who has ever felt the pull of home." - David Quammen, author of Song for the Blue Ocean
