Author Xiomara Santamaría was born in El Salvador and came to the United States as a young child. She grew up in a working-class family in Los Angeles and witnessed firsthand the challenges that immigrants face in this country. In Under The Same Sky, Santamaría shares her family's story with honesty and compassion, shedding light on the resilience and determination of those who have come to America seeking a better life.

Santamaría's family has faced many challenges over the years, including poverty, discrimination, and deportation. But through it all, they have never given up hope. They have worked hard, raised their children, and made a positive contribution to their community. Under The Same Sky is a testament to the power of the human spirit and the importance of fighting for what you believe in.

This book is more than just a memoir. It is a call to action. Santamaría challenges us to confront the racism and discrimination that still exists in our society and to work together to create a more just and equitable world. Under The Same Sky is a powerful and timely reminder that we are all in this together and that we must never give up hope.
